For The Natural Look. . .

Today (just now in fact) I read a short article on a beauty magazine's website about how to achieve natural looking hair.
The steps?
1. Buy this product (a product designed to make your hair look product-less)
2. Apply
3. Scrunch and tousle
4. Let dry.
5. Ask yourself why you spent money to make it look as if you had not, when you could've just. . . not.

How to achieve a no-make-up make-up look?
1. Apply a tinted moisturizer (so it actually doesn't cover much up)
2. with your fingers, rub a light shade of dusty brown or bronze onto eyelids
3. Blend so you can't tell it's there
4. Put on a single swipe of mascara
OR
1. wash your face.
Life is full of irony, and it's moments like these that I love.
Today I rinsed my hair with water, and then did nothing, much to the same affect.
So I guess this is what I'm thinking;
It's not just in the beauty arena that we put forth unnecessary effort. In business, in school, in conversation. . . we force what we don't need to in an effort to make ourselves seem naturally perfect (while everyone knows exactly how much force you just applied). Why? Is it a control issue? Can we not be happy knowing our hair is in fashion of it's own accord, without us doing anything? Is it because that takes away our control, our name, our glory from the situation?
Or am I over-analyzing this?
Perhaps some people just like the routine of putting make-up on, or of doing their hair. I certainly do, it's relaxing to me. Which is why I'm about to go put on some eyeshadow and mascara, but I guarantee you'll be able to tell I'm wearing it.
